"Miyamakaori" is a green tea cultivar born in Miyazaki Prefecture. It is a cold hardy cultivar that is easy to grow throughout Japan but is not a major player in the market. The reason for this is its aroma. The sweet, chestnut-like aroma is unique, and the "Miyamakaori" teas we have encountered so far have only been Kamairicha (Pan-fried green tea) teas, not sencha. Therefore, we were shocked to learn that such a sencha was also available.
The rich umami and astringent taste spread across the tongue is full-bodied, and the flavor is very satisfying. Above all, a vegetable-like aroma rises from the moment the hot water is poured. This aroma is sweet and green simultaneously, and its freshness, like that of tomatoes and leafy vegetables, is the most appealing feature. It is a unique and attractive tea that is genuinely a single-origin tea.
When brewing, be sure to use high temperatures and short brewing time. Brew it quickly to bring out the aroma while adding a light touch of astringency and bitterness.
