Crease - Little Yunomi/Tea Cup (Oribe)

This is the crease little yunomi from MIYAMA, made in Mizunami, Gifu from Mino stoneware with an Oribe glaze. Oribe ware has a long history in the Mino region — the deep, uneven green glaze was developed in the Momoyama period and remains one of Japanese ceramics' most distinctive traditions. At 50ml, this is a gumi-size cup: the scale of something you sip once, put down, and refill from the kyusu as it stays warm. The crease pattern on the surface is a random relief — though the surface reads as smooth to the touch, the light catches the texture and brings out the depth of the Oribe glaze.
